The Vidar Foundation provides low-interest loans to Anthroposophical initiatives across Canada to make them less dependent on traditional financial institutions.

Vidar Foundation investors  choose to use their money to create positive social change in the world. They place their savings in secured loans to projects that will inaugurate future development.

What we do ...

Here are some examples of what we have financed:

  • Trillium Waldorf School, ON

  • Lakeside School Kelowna, BC

  • Okanagan Waldorf School, BC

  • South Shore Waldorf School, NS

  • The Halton Waldorf, ON

  • Christian Community of Van, BC

  • Ottawa Waldorf School, ON

  • La Grande Ourse, PQ

  • ROSE(Redeeming Our Soil), ON

  • Sunnivue Biodynamic Farm,  ON

"The Vidar Foundation's mission is to find new and creative ways for our money to step beyond pure profit, to promote a healthier society. We think it is important to become more conscious of where our money is, who we are lending it to, and for what purpose.

When we give our retirement savings to a bank or anonymous mutual fund, we are disconnected from who we are lending our money to, and what they are using it for. These funds hold shares in major corporations whose sole objective is to make money, often without considering the environmental, social, or moral costs.

The financial markets are amoral, driven only by the need to make a profit. They make money by endlessly increasing consumption and exploiting the world's resources at the lowest possible cost. Our earth is suffering terribly under this false accounting, and our human relationships as well.

We don't have to be a part of this. There is a kinder, more human alternative. As free individuals, we can choose to become more responsible for where our money is, and what effect it is having on all the lives it touches. We can make our lending relationships more conscious, personal, and intentional. We choose who we are supporting, and we help them bring a dream we share to fruition in the world.

We can imbue our money with intention and power. Our savings can help make the world better".

Vidar Foundation is a registered Canadian charity led by a volunteer board of directors.

At the Vidar Foundation we believe low interest rate loans are important to the success of Anthroposophical Initiatives. Projects are carefully selected to assure our investment will thrive and are secure. To qualify,  an organization must be in business for at least 5 years, be the registered owner of their property and must have a supporting community.  By investing our money consciously we ensure it is working to help build the society urgently necessary for the future.
